A blacklist is a list of people who will always be blocked from access to a service. In the context of Office 365, blacklists prevent excess spam from affecting the productivity of your employees.
For example, lets imagine your domain (@yourcompany.com) was to get on a advertising company’s mailing list. Between you and your employees, you are now receiving 500-600 pointless emails a day. With a blacklist you can block all emails from domain A (@spamycompany.com) from being received by your domain address. You can also build exceptions to these lists, for example you might say email@example.com can email you, but everyone else cannot.
Often it is the case that your previous mail service already has some of these lists in motion. As you move to Office 365, be sure to check if you need to migrate any of these lists.
